Club Notes: Week ending – 19th of August 2018


Senior Men’s Football:

The seniors secured promotion to Division 1 on Sunday when they overcame the challenge of St. Nauls in Mountcharles winning 3.16 to 1.13. Congratulations to all the players and management. The reserves marched on and added another win to their season defeating St. Nauls 3.18 to 1.08. On Sunday the Seniors and Reserves travel to play Naomh Muire, The Rosses, in what now are vital games for both teams. These lads have given serious commitment and hard work all year which is being reflected by their results to date. Both players and management would really appreciate as much support as possible again on Sunday. Reserve game at 1.30 and Senior game at 3.00.


Third Team Championship:

The thirds begin their Championship campaign on Saturday with an away game to play Naomh Conaill at 7.00pm. All support greatly appreciated.


Under-12 Hurling Final:

Our under 12’s are in the County A Hurling Final on Thursday evening at 6pm in O’Donnell Park. This is a very talented young team. All support most welcome.


Congratulations to Avril:

Massive congratulations to Avril McNamee who won the Female Singles 4-Wall (Small Wall) B Title at the 2018 World Handball Championships which were held in Minnesota at the weekend.


Congratulations to Leah:

Congratulations to Leah Gallen who won The National Senior Cadet 66kgs title at the weekend.


Donegal Ladies All-Ireland Semi-Final:

Best of Luck to Damian Devaney and the Donegal Ladies footballers who play Cork on Saturday in Dr. Hyde Park in Roscommon at 2.45pm.


Donegal Masters:

Best of luck to Shaun Boyce and Mark Cannon and the Donegal Masters team who play Dublin in the All-Ireland Semi-Final on Saturday, time and venue TBC. This game is a replay after the first game ended in a 0.14 to 2.08 stalemate.


Annual 5K Walk/Jog/Run:

Our Annual 5K takes place on Friday the 31st of August at 7.30pm. Registration takes place from 6.30pm at the clubhouse and all funds raised go towards preparing our underage teams. This is a great opportunity to come out and support our youth and everyone is welcome to participate whether you Run, Walk or Crawl! Entry is €8 for over 16’s and €3 for under 16’s. There is a 1km run for kids u6-u14. Registration 6-620pm. Kids 1km starts 630pm. This 5K is open to one and all and participants from all other clubs are more than welcome also. The more the merrier! There will be underage races on before the 5k. The race will commence from St. Columba’s and finish back at the clubhouse. Refreshments are available afterwards in the Clubhouse. We’d encourage all parents to help with this event also by entering or by volunteering to steward or help with refreshments. All help to steward etc. greatly appreciated.


Under-14 Boys Football:

Great win for the u14’s on Friday night in Mac Cumhaill Park against Termon. The lads bounced back from the League final defeat to Termon to maintain their 100% start to the Div 1 championship. It was a great team performance from all the boys. Final score was 5-07 to 0-07. Next match is on Friday away to Glenfin at 7.00pm. All support on the night is greatly appreciated.


Ladies Minor Football:

Any girl wishing to play minor football should attend training on Tuesday and Thursday night’s 7.00 to 8.00pm.

The Bingo will take place in The Villa Rose Hotel on Sunday with an 8.30pm start. The Snowball jackpot is €9,000 for 45 numbers or less or €500 for 50 numbers or less. All are very welcome.



There was no winner of this week’s lotto. The numbers drawn were 4, 17, 28 and 29. There was 1 match 3 winner: Bernie McGlynn, Glenfin who receives €150. Next week’s jackpot is €8,500.
